Preferred: Experience in industrial civil/structure design, site supervision, construction software (e.g., Revit, Tekla), vendor interaction.
Travel: Temporary travel across northern Europe for project execution and start-ups

We commercialize innovative technologies by constructing chemical process plants that recover nutrients (e.g., fertilizers). We are now looking for a skilled professional, preferably with a strong background in construction within the process, mining, or petrochemical industries. 

Our project responsibilities span from feasibility studies to detailed engineering, commissioning, and plant startups. We are now looking for a person who can take the lead in the Civil and Building discipline, providing guidance and support to our project leaders and engineering teams on civil and Building-related challenges in our ongoing projects.

Job brief 

We are looking for a Senior Civil & Building Engineer to take the lead on civil and Building tasks in our projects. In this role, you will be a key part of our cross-functional engineering team in Gothenburg, working closely with project leaders and engineering disciplines. Beyond leadership, we need a hands-on problem solver who actively supports and advises our own personnel and consultants, ensuring high-quality civil and building solutions throughout all project phases. Your ability to provide strategic guidance, problem solving, and maintain strong procurement expertise will be essential for our project success. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead civil and building project management.
• Develop, support, and refine civil and building procurement specifications. 
• Support and guide building and/or civil consultants, ensuring high-quality solutions and efficient project execution. 
• Oversee and coordinate external civil design companies while supportin in-house design. 
• Be a proactive problem solver, driving progress and improving ways of working. 

The role is based in Gothenburg, with temporary future travel across northern Europe for project execution and plant start-ups.

Requirements 

1. You are a team player and can work with civil and structure issues, both independently and in a cross-functional team 
2. Excellent knowledge of plant design and knowledge of related disciplines 
3. Physically capable of field work and site walk in an operating chemical plant that handles hazardous chemicals 
4. Can document the development process progress in an organized manner 
5. Can handle confidential information with integrity 

Education & Experience Requirements 

Higher level of education within Civil and Building Engineering 

At least 10 years of relevant experience in an engineering environment. You need to have experience of civil and building works, preferably from the chemical, petrochemical, pulp & paper or the mining industries. 

Good knowledge of using MS Office package 

Good knowledge of AutoCAD. 

It is of benefit if you have experience of: 

1. Extensive experience in civil and/or structure design from industrial projects. 
2. Site supervision, field work and installation. 
3. Market vendor contacts of Civil and Building.
4. Construction software user skills, e.g. Revit, Tekla or similar
