Senior Materials and Welding Specialist

City Solutions division is responsible for developing sustainable city solutions into a growing business for Fortum. The division comprises heating and cooling, waste-to-energy, recycling and expertise sales.


Your role

Are you customer-oriented person who wants to move Fortum Turbine and Generation Services (TGS) customers’ performance forward? We are looking for an experienced Senior Materials and Welding Specialist to become a member of our Fortum TGS engineering group. You can be located for example in Espoo (Finland), Västerås (Sweden) or any other Fortum TGS location.

Your role will be leading the turbine island material science related failure investigations, materials selection for reverse engineered parts and, especially, taking charge of developing and supervising advanced repair welding procedures under varying and demanding site conditions. You will be working closely with other senior experts and supporting both our field and workshop operations. You will also be responsible for supporting both highly skilled internal welders and other technicians and external contractors.

Monitoring and reporting of work progress, quality and site related contractual matters are other important duties. Your extensive experience from site works will also be valuable in sales project support and construction planning and scheduling as well as negotiations with contractors and customers.

Your qualifications

We believe that suitable candidates have an educational background in materials and welding engineering and at least 5–10 years of experience in advanced welding procedures and service business. Knowledge of power plant processes, turbo-generators and related systems are highly appreciated.

Fluent written and spoken skills in English are required and other language skills are considered beneficial. Good IT skills are also required. It is mandatory to have a readiness to travel.
