To our department within Intellectual Property we are now looking for a Patent Engineer. Preferably you have some experience from patent work or you have experience from the chemical industry and an interest in learning and developing your skills within IP.
The position is based at site Perstorp in southern Sweden.
About the job
You will be part of a small but dedicated team of five people who serve and works closely with R&D, production and business functions of the Perstorp Group globally with all kinds of IP related matters. We are included in our R&D organization called Innovation. Perstorp Innovation organization deliver new innovative and competitive specialty chemistry products to contribute to our customers´ business growth. We are about 90 people based in Sweden, UK, India and the Netherlands.
Patents are the main focus for Intellectual Property, but the work also includes trademarks, web domains and copyright issues. We work closely with our R&D organization and are considered an valued member in our development projects.
As a patent engineer your main tasks will be to;
Actively participate in R&D projects and advise in IP related matters
Perform freedom to operate investigations
Perform patentability investigations
Draft patent applications and handle these towards patent offices and patent agents
Monitor competitors and market segments
File and handle oppositions
Perform literature studies
You have a chemical education, preferable at M.Sc. level
Experience from practical patent work in the industry or from a patent bureau is desired but not a requirement
You find it easy to express yourself both in writing and verbally. You have a very good knowledge of English, preferably also a good knowledge of Swedish
Additional language skills in German, French or Chinese are valuable
As a person we think it is important for you to be curious, flexible, thorough and systematic and have a good sense for teamwork and customer service. You are generally interested in and curious about technical matters.
