You will be part of the Volvo Group IP management team consisting of Group Director Patents, Group Director IP Legal, Trademarks & Designs and Vice President Volvo Group IP.
You will report to the Vice President Volvo Group IP, Group Trucks Technology.
Main activities and responsibilities:
As a strategic business partner, work with other stakeholders in Volvo to understand the businesses’ strategic objectives and lead the annual Volvo Group IP Plan development and execution, its alignment with said business priorities, in order to support the Group’s profitability, competitiveness and growth
Based upon the directions in the IP Plan, lead the management of the IP portfolios, proactively supporting the generation of new IP, managing IP portfolio strategic risk, and continuously trimming the portfolios
As a strategic business partner, ensure well-functioning cooperation with internal stakeholders in Volvo to understand the businesses’ strategic objectives and lead the development and implementation of portfolio-specific IP strategies
Coordinate cross-Group IP priorities and ensure harmonization globally
Lead the continuous development of processes, methods and tools with respect to IP management and strategy
Guide and supervise professional development of each individual in the IP Strategy & Portfolio team including the entire team
A key stakeholder in driving IP training globally
Manage and operate within the budget, optimize resource allocation and ensure cost-effective management of IP
Advise senior management in strategic IP matters
Actively participate in the Volvo Group IP management team and jointly with the management team drive the continuous development of the Volvo Group IP department in different areas
Critical competencies and skills:
As Group Director IP Strategy & Portfolio, you shall have a M.Sc. in engineering or equivalent degree. A business administration degree is an advantage but not requirement. Further, you shall have in-depth knowledge of technology- and IP-based competitiveness. Working knowledge of IP (such as patents, copyright, designs and trade secrets) as well as up-to-date knowledge of IP trends, developments and practices is also important. Also, you should have experience from leading IP operations with business accountability and executive management visibility at a multinational corporation.
You should also have demonstrated leadership abilities with a minimum of 5+ years of IP operations management experience including management visibility at a global corporation. Also, strong personal credibility, integrity and out-come focused with the ability to navigate in both formal channels and informal networks in organizations.
Good ability to quickly assess new situations, genuine business interest, communication skills and a co-operative mindset are also pre-requisites for this position.
