One important application area is the fuel cell industry, where Sandvik’s proprietary production processes for mass production of pre-coated materials for bipolar plates in fuel cells are central. The product and process development is run intensely and in close collaboration with our customers. To strengthen our competence within R&D, and in fuel cells in particular, we are now looking for a creative and goal-oriented Senior Engineer to join us in Sandviken. You have a true passion and enthusiasm for the future development of our coated strip steel, developed specifically for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) bipolar plates, and we offer you an inspiring research environment.


Job Summary

As Senior Engineer, you are responsible for leading and participating in various types of development initiatives that cover the scope of the PEMFC area. In this position, your main focal point is the performance of our coatings for bipolar plates, but by using your broad competence in fuel cells you also contribute with an overall understanding. One important task is to continually increase the knowledge platform of the coated strip steel by e.g. stack testing of our product, in order to facilitate research-based decisions in the business ramp-up. In addition, you actively follow the research community as well as trends and progress in the growing fuel cell segment.

Our assignments are based on technical requirements and demands from both external customers and the internal production organization. You also collaborate and communicate with multiple stakeholders maintaining qualitative and prosperous relationships e.g. with customers and universities.


Your profile

We are looking for someone with a documented background of working within electrochemistry, preferably in the PEMFC area. A doctoral thesis in fuel cells, related material science or a similar field is desirable, but applicants with a Master’s degree combined with relevant experience in these areas will also be considered. Hands-on experience with fuel cells or bipolar plates is a valuable asset. As we interact in a global environment, we expect you to have excellent communication skills in English and Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
